The Bosnian Pine is becoming more popular in gardens, both private and public. It has ash gray bark, with ridges exposing yellow-gray patches. The needles are in pairs, 2 to 4 inches long, 1 1/2 inch wide, stiff, dark green, lined, and have 1/2 inch long sheaths. The needles remain for 5 or 6 years. The cones are oval, 4 to 5 inches long, yellow-brown, and purplish-blue in youth. This tree is reportedly particularly suitable to dry and chalky soils.
